Sarah Ann Newborn, known lovingly as Sarah, passed away on September 18, 2026, in Lafayette, Alabama, at the age of 74.
Sarah was born on October 9, 1951, in Newnan, Georgia, and she carried the values of family, kindness, and quiet strength throughout her life. She was a woman who found joy in simple pleasures and who touched the lives of those around her with her gentle spirit and steady presence. Her life was marked by devotion to her loved ones, and she will be remembered with deep affection by all who knew her.
Sarah loved spending time with the things that brought her comfort and happiness. She enjoyed quilting, and she took pride in the care and patience that each project required. She also loved watching Little House on the Prairie and the Andy Griffith show, programs that reflected the warmth and values she appreciated. She also enjoyed tending to her flowers which brought her emence joy. In quieter moments, she enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, a pastime that gave her both enjoyment and a sense of accomplishment.
She is survived by her son, Lee Newborn and his wife Barbie, her daughter, Wanda Clark, her sister, Bobbie Adams, her grandchildren, Josh Newborn and his wife Candis, and Summer Clark, her great-grandchildren, Malea Newborn and Robbie Newborn, and numerous nieces and nephews. Her family was a source of great pride and joy in her life, and she cherished each of them deeply.
Sarah was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Lee Newborn, Sr., her parents, Johnny Calhoun and Mollie Calhoun, her brothers, Johnny Calhoun and Jessie Calhoun, and her granddaughter, Kristina Newborn, and son in law Jr. Clark. Though her family grieves her passing, they take comfort in the many memories they shared and in the love that will continue to bind them together.
Sarah will be remembered for her kind heart, her love of home, and the warmth she brought into the lives of others. Her legacy lives on in the family she loved so dearly and in the many cherished memories she leaves behind. She will be deeply missed and forever held in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Funeral services for Sarah will be held on Monday, September 21st, 2026, at 2:30 PM (EDT) at the Osanippa Baptist Church in Lanett, Alabama. Interment will follow in Osanippa Baptist Church Cemetery. Brother Donnie Sanders will officiate. Mr. McCain’s family will receive friends for visitation Monday afternoon from 1:30 PM (EDT) until the service hour at Osanippa Baptist Church in Lanett.
