Lanett Pedestrian Fatally hit, Police Investigating

On Wednesday, July 1st, at approximately 9:58 PM, Lanett police responded to a traffic crash that had just occurred in the 800 block of Veterans Memorial Parkway (VMP) in Lanett.

According to the Lanett Police, the responding officer immediately initiated life-saving measures until Lanett EMS arrived on the scene. Unfortunately, these efforts were unsuccessful, and the pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Chambers County Coroner’s Office, as stated in a social media post by Lanett Police.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a Ford F-250 was traveling west on Veterans Memorial Parkway when it struck a pedestrian who was in the roadway. The body of the pedestrian has been released to a local funeral home. No arrests have been made, and the incident remains under investigation by the Lanett Police Department.
