May 18, 1944 ~ August 24, 2026 (age 82)
Harriet Combs Little, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, was born on May 18, 1944, and went to be with her Lord and Savior on August 24, 2026, at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, Alabama.
Harriet was a woman who could never be described as ordinary. She was a spunky little woman with a heart full of love and a personality full of fire. She was incredibly sweet, fiercely loyal, and just feisty enough to make sure you never forgot who was in charge. You didn’t need to ask Harriet what she was thinking—one look at her face would tell you everything you needed to know. Her facial expressions had a language all their own, and those who knew and loved her could read every word.
Harriet spent most of her working life in finance, where her strong personality, sharp mind, and determination served her well. She was a hardworking woman who knew how to handle herself and wasn’t afraid to speak her mind.
But above all else, Harriet loved Jesus. Her faith was at the center of who she was, and now she has received the greatest promise of all—she is home with the Lord she loved.
And if there were two things Harriet loved most in this world, they were Jesus and her stilettos. She could love the Lord with all her heart and still make an entrance in a pair of heels that let everyone know Harriet had arrived. That was simply who she was—faithful, fashionable, sweet, and full of fire.
Harriet knew heartbreak and loss, having been preceded in death by her two children, John Wayne Little and Tawnya Renee Ford; her brothers, Cal Combs and Jack Combs; and her parents, Willeila Combs and John Sterling Combs.
Though her family circle became smaller through the years, Harriet’s love never stopped growing. She leaves behind her granddaughter, Jordan (Cameron) Johnson; her bonus granddaughters, Jami (Zach) Stuart, Breanna (Drew) Edge and Erin (Bubba) Hinson; and her great-grandchild, Jackson Johnson. She also leaves behind countless memories in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her.
Harriet’s life was not defined by the years she spent on this earth, but by the love, laughter, strength, faith, and unmistakable fire she left behind. Though her absence will leave a space that can never be filled, those who love Harriet can find comfort knowing that she is no longer hurting, no longer struggling, and no longer separated from the ones she loved who went before her.
Rest peacefully, sweet Mawmaw. You were one of a kind, and you will never be forgotten.
Funeral services for Harriet will be held on Friday, August 28tt, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. (EDT) at Calvary Baptist Church in Lanett, Alabama. Brother John Dye will be officiating. Interment will follow at Fairfax Cemetery in Valley, Alabama. Mrs. Harriet’s family will receive friends for a visitation on Friday, August 28tt, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. (EDT) until the service hour at Calvary Baptist Church in Lanett, Alabama.
