October 13, 1967 ~ May 6, 2025 (age 57)

Iva Lavonne Williams, fondly known as Lavonne, departed this life on the 6th of May 2025, in Opelika, Alabama, after a lifetime filled with joy, generosity, and boundless love. Born on October 13, 1967, in Atlanta, Georgia, Lavonne was a source of kindness and intelligence whose aura deeply touched all who knew her.

Lavonne’s legacy is carried on by her loving husband, Joe Williams, her devoted daughters, Savannah Black (married to Alexander) and Sydnee Rhodes (married to Bain), and her cherished grandchildren, Exton and Gibson Black. Equally feeling the absence of her radiant spirit is her sister, Angel Smith (Shannon), along with a nurturing circle of nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is preceded in passing by her parents, Willie J. and Connie Bailey, and her siblings Randy Bailey, Tonya Moore, and Billy Bailey.

Throughout her career at Fairfax Pharmacy, Lavonne was known not only for her brilliant mind and selfless nature, qualities that shone brightly in her work and volunteer endeavors, but also for treating every customer the same and making sure they all felt like family. She effortlessly moved others to aspire to greatness, not through words but through her daily acts of kindness.

Lavonne’s home was a mirror of her heart; always open and warm, it was there that her unmatched cooking skills, especially her famous biscuits, made her the mama to many. Her personality — kind, friendly, and perpetually welcoming — will forever be etched in the minds and hearts of those who knew her.

As the sunsets on her earthly journey, Lavonne’s story remains a treasured narrative of love, friendship, and the lasting impact one life can make. Her memory will be a guiding light to all, propelling us to live with the same graciousness and warmth she embodied every day.

Funeral services for Lavonne will be held on Saturday, May 10th, 2025, at 11:00 AM (EDT) at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery. The Reverend Ronnie Jordan will officiate. Lavonne’s family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM (EDT) at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley.
