AUBURN, Ala. – On Sept. 28, 2026, the United States Marshals Service arrested Zealand Jamar Adams, 41, of Kent, Washington on the charges of four counts of burglary first degree, four counts of robbery first degree, two counts of unlawful imprisonment and one count of impersonating a peace officer. Later the same day, the United States Marshals Service also arrested Ramiro Vasquez, 39, of Chico, California for four counts of burglary first degree, four counts of robbery first degree, two counts of unlawful imprisonment and one count of impersonating a peace officer.

The arrests stem from an incident that occurred in the 1300 block of East University Drive. In the early morning hours of Sept. 3, 2026, Auburn Police Department (APD) officers responded to a residence in reference to a complaint of a robbery. During the crime, the suspects allegedly entered the victims’ residence posed as law enforcement officers, held them at gunpoint and stole valuables.

After further investigation, Adams and Vasquez were identified as suspects. APD utilized Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) technology to identify the suspects’ rental vehicle and confirm their movement out of the state. Warrants were obtained, and Adams was located and taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Service in Seattle, Washington. Vasquez was located shortly after in Chico, California and was taken into custody by U.S. Marshals. Both Adams and Vasquez were arrested without incident and booked into local jails. They are currently awaiting extradition to Alabama.
