June 8, 1947 ~ November 26, 2024 (age 77)

We come to you today with a heavy heart to honor the life of Mike Bass, a beloved family man, respected Marine, and cherished community member, who left this world on November 26th, 2024, at his home in Lanett, Alabama. Born on the 8th of June 1947, in LaFayette, Alabama, Mike led a life marked by dedication, love, and compassion.

Mike was a graduate of Auburn University, where he cultivated the knowledge that would guide his path in life. Mike’s commitment to his country was evident through his service as a United States Marine and as a courageous veteran of the Vietnam War. Notably recognized for his remarkable marksmanship, he carried the same precision and focus into all areas of his life.

Family was the cornerstone of Mike’s world. His loving wife of 39 years, Judy Bass, his devoted daughter, Amy Bass Crouch, with her husband John, his son John Bonner, and his adored grandchildren Larrah Bonner, Lyndsey, and Lyla Crouch, all benefited from his deep and unwavering love. He leaves behind a legacy of warmth and gentility that will continue to resonate through his family.

Mike’s parents, Edgar Bass and Norma Clark, his brother, Jeffrey “Jeff” Miles, along with his grandparents, William Olin and Evelyn Bass, preceded him in death, leaving us confident that his reunion with them was a joyous one.

An ardent fan of Auburn football and the Atlanta Braves, Mike enjoyed the simple pleasures of reading and fishing—a testament to his thoughtful and introspective nature. Often described as intelligent and loving, Mike’s presence was a source of thoughtfulness in the lives of all who knew him. Today, we celebrate Mike Bass, a man whose life was a story filled with love and honor, and who will be profoundly missed.

Funeral services for Mike will be private. No visitation is planned.
