Phillip Byron “Phil” Draper, age 76, of Valley, Alabama, passed away on June 17, 2026. He was born on November 23, 1949, in Langdale, Alabama, and lived a life marked by service, skill, and quiet kindness.
Phil proudly served his country as a United States Air Force veteran, a chapter of his life that reflected his sense of duty and commitment. Following his military service, he worked for many years as an electronics technician. He had a remarkable ability to repair just about any electronic device, and his talents were widely respected by those who knew him. Phil took pride in doing things well, and his practical knowledge, patience, and resourcefulness made him someone others could depend on.
Phil was a man who appreciated the simple and meaningful things in life. He enjoyed being outdoors, and he liked to go canoeing and hunting whenever he had the opportunity. Time spent outside brought him peace and enjoyment, and those interests reflected his love for nature and the quiet beauty of God’s creation. He was also a devoted Auburn University fan, and he followed his team with enthusiasm and loyalty.
Phil was a Christian and was of the Methodist faith. His beliefs were an important part of his life and helped shape the way he treated others.
He is survived by his brother, Sidney Draper and Jayne; his nephew, Chad Draper and Chrissi Finney; his aunt, Gail Anthony; and a host of cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bradford and Geneva Draper; and his sisters, Paula Draper and Elizabeth Draper. Phil’s family was important to him, and the bonds he shared with them were a meaningful part of his life.
Phil Draper leaves behind a legacy of service, skill, and kindness. He will be remembered with love and respect by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will remain a blessing to his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched.
