On Thursday, the city of Opelika and the community honored Jim Sikes by dedicating a tree in his name at the Barbara Patton Fine Arts Building.

“This Living Tribute is an opportunity to recognize Jim’s lasting impact and to express our gratitude for his years of service, generosity, and commitment to keeping the arts thriving,” stated the city in a press release.

In attendance were Opelika Mayor Eddie Smith, along with former mayors Gary Fuller and Barbara Patton, who all delivered remarks during the program.

A large crowd gathered to celebrate their gratitude towards Jim Sikes.
