The Opelika SportsPlex and Aquatics Center will host its 14th Annual Senior Health and Resource Fair on Tuesday, October 13, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. The event is free and open to the public and will provide adults ages 55 and older with access to a variety of free health screenings, resources, and services.

The Senior Health and Resource Fair brings together healthcare providers, community organizations, and local businesses in one convenient location, allowing seniors and their caregivers to gather valuable information, explore available services, and connect with professionals who can help them navigate the aging process. Attendees can learn about supplemental insurance options, discover local resources, receive health screenings, and speak directly with service providers—all without the need to schedule multiple appointments or travel to several locations.

“Healthy aging starts with having access to the right information and resources,” said Valeri White, Adult Activities Coordinator at the Opelika SportsPlex. “This event gives seniors and their caregivers the opportunity to connect with trusted professionals, learn about services available in our community, and take proactive steps toward maintaining their health and independence.”

This year’s event will offer a variety of free on-site services, including:

  • The Southern Union State Community College Nursing Program will provide blood pressure, glucose, cholesterol, and hemoglobin screenings.

  • Auburn University School of Nursing students and faculty will be available to help participants understand their screening results.

In addition to free screenings and services, attendees will have the opportunity to meet with a wide variety of vendors who specialize in senior health, wellness, and quality of life.
