OPELIKA, AL – Members of the Leadership Lee County Class of 2025-2026, in partnership with the Community Market of East Alabama, will host a special ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at 4 PM for Project Mustard Seed. The ceremony will take place at the Community Market of East Alabama, located at 1606 1st Ave in Opelika.
This event marks the official completion of Project Mustard Seed, an initiative aimed at transforming the market’s exterior into a vibrant and welcoming community hub. Situated in the heart of Opelika, the Community Market serves as a vital resource for residents across Lee County. Project Mustard Seed has reimagined the vacant lot at the intersection of 1st Avenue and 16th Place, turning it into a functional outdoor oasis designed to provide dignity, comfort, and a sense of growth for every neighbor seeking assistance.
This transformation was made possible through the vision of the Class of 2026 and the community market, with the generous support of numerous community partners, including: Opelika Rotary, Alabama Patio, Bodine’s Landscape, D.R. Horton Homes, the City of Opelika, Lee County Commission, Advanced Graphics, Butcher Paper BBQ, East Alabama Health, Holloway Credit Solutions, MSLive Technologies, Sensigreen, Transcend Health, and Valley Bank.
