On Tuesday, Lanett Police responded to a shootingin the 1400 block of Fifth Street around 1:30 p.m. EST

According to Lanett Police Chief Denise McCain, , a male victim was shot The victim was airlifted to an area hospital for treatment.

McCain confirmed a person involved in the shooting is believed to be a 2025 mayoral candidate. That person’s identity has not been released.
