Funeral service for Johnny Rowell, 79, of Notasulga, AL, will be at 1:00 p.m., Monday, September 14, 2026, at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 2 Day Lily Street, Loachapoka, AL, 36865 with interment in Pine Level Cemetery, 4650 Arrow Head Road, Loachapoka, AL, 36865, Pastor Anthony Shealey will officiate.
Mr. Rowell, who passed away Tuesday, September 8, 2026 at the Bethany House in Auburn, Alabama, was born July 25, 1947, in Lee County, Alabama.
Public viewing will be Sunday, September 13, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Mr. Rowell will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to the service.
He leaves to cherish his memory: three children, Chester (Felicia) Knight of Opelika, AL, John Knight of Notasulga, AL and Delaine Knight of Loachapoka, AL; seven grandchildren, Martavis Knight of Notasulga, AL, Franklin Vickerstaff of Mobile, AL, Desmond Vickerstaff of Loachapoka, AL, Andrew “Al” Knight of Phenix City, AL, Ralphael Chez Knight of Atlanta, GA, Leteshia Knight and Latreia Knight both of Prattville, AL; four great-grandchildren, Maycee Knight, Marlee Knight, Mason Knight and Mekhi Knight all f Notasulga, AL; two sisters, Shirley Rowell and Marie Maddox both of Waverly, AL; two brothers, Michael (Pastor Brenda) Maddox and Jerry Maddox both of Waverly, AL; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family of the late Mr. Johnny Lee Rowell acknowledges with grateful appreciation all acts of kindness, prayers, cards, telephone calls, flowers, and words of comfort extended to us during our time of bereavement. May God bless each of you.
