On Saturday, the City of Valley and Valley Local joined forces to host the annual Valley Clean Up Day. Valley Local Co-Founder Sara Crutchfield, along with students, was actively involved in cleaning up the Fairfax area and throughout the city.
The City of Valley has been organizing this event for many years, and last September, we partnered with Parks and Recreation. This year, we had a great turnout of students volunteering to help clean up the area.
For this year’s event, we introduced a friendly competition to see who could collect the most bags of trash. The winners will be awarded gift cards: $75 for first place, $50 for second place, and $25 for third place, thanks to Chick-fil-A for donating the cards,” said Crutchfield.
Local students were engaged as they contributed to cleaning up their community.
“Today we learned about the histories of the trails, the importance of pollution cleanup, and how trash can impact both the trails and our neighborhoods,” said one student.
“The biggest lesson I learned is to not litter, be responsible when throwing away trash, and to love our community by keeping it clean,” added another student.
After the event, Valley Local and the students wrapped up their day by celebrating the 76th anniversary of Daniel’s with a Daniel’s burger.
