The City of Opelika has provided an important update regarding the Courthouse Square fountain.

“After careful consideration, the City will no longer change the fountain’s colors throughout the year to recognize various causes, organizations, or awareness campaigns. While we have been proud to support many meaningful nonprofit organizations and community initiatives in this way, the system used to color the fountain has increasingly presented significant maintenance challenges and high costs.

To reduce ongoing repair expenses, the fountain will now remain in its standard appearance moving forward.

We sincerely appreciate the many organizations and citizens who have participated in and supported this tradition over the years. The City of Opelika remains committed to finding other meaningful ways to celebrate and support our community partners and important causes”, said the city.
