Barbara Jane Myhand Coker, 79, of Valley, Alabama, passed away peacefully, Sunday, August 16,2026, at her home in Valley, Alabama, where she had resided since 1981. She was surrounded by her loved ones.

She was born, June 29, 1947, to the late James and Margarette

Barbara was a follower of Jesus Christ. She enjoyed and was very good at sewing, crocheting, quilting, cooking, gardening, and collecting antiques. Barbara loved attending church and spreading the word of Jesus Christ.

She loved her family deeply and was one of the most loving, nurturing, kind, and helpful women you’d ever meet. She never met a stranger and was always there when you needed her. Her arms and home were always open with a warm meal for anyone in need.

Barbara stayed positive until the very end. She always trusted Jesus with everything in life.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years William Tilborn Coker, her parents James and Margarette Myhand, her brother Philip Myhand and her grandson Joseph Allen Coker and numerous aunts, uncle and cousins.

Barbara was survived by her children Charles (Tammy) Coker, Renona Bowen, and Timothy (Stacey) Coker. Her grandchildren Donna Bowen, Lester (Amber) Coker, Brian Elkins, Marie Coker, Elizabeth Coker, Daniel (Katlyn) Coker, Zeb (Christina) Bowen, Alex Bowen, Emilee Catrett, and Chasity Williams. She had 26 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren. A sister Linda (Jerry) Deal and a numerous number of cousins, in-laws, nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, from 6:00 P.M. (EST) – 8:00 PM (EST).

Funeral service to be held, Thursday, August 20, 2026, at 11:00 A.M. (EST), in the chapel of Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home. Dr. Douglas Blackmon officiating.

Graveside service to be held at Harmony Memorial Park immediately following the service.
