LEE COUNTY (September 4, 2026) – On August 31,2026, an employee with the Lee County Department of Human Resources filed a report with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office regarding incest and sexual abuse of a juvenile. During the investigation, evidence was obtained that supported allegations as reported to the Department of Human Resources.
On September 4, 2026, Investigators arrested and charged Walter Sarkneko Barnett (42) of Auburn, Alabama with One (1) count of Incest, Two (2) counts of Sodomy 2nd degree, One (1) count of Rape 2nd degree and One (1) count of Sexual Abuse 2nd degree. He is being held in the Lee County Detention Center on a $146,000.00 bond. Additional charges are expected.
