Mr. Chaka LaShaun Bowser “Glaze” Obituary

June 10, 1977 ~ August 6, 2025 (age 48)

Mr. Chaka LaShaun Bowser “Glaze”, was born on June 10, 1977, in Langdale, Alabama, to the late Annie Lucille Bowser and the late Albert Dardy Glaze. To his family and closest friends, he was affectionately called “Shaun” or “Blocka.” On Wednesday, August 6, 2025, he peacefully entered eternal rest at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, Alabama.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Annie and Albert; his sister, Valetta Davis; maternal grandparents, Ever Eunice Brooks, Willie Ned Copeland, Ocie Hicks, and Juanita Hicks; and paternal grandparents, Andrew Glaze and Andrea Lena Glaze.

Chaka’s memory will forever be cherished by his heart’s companion, Cheukemia Grady of Opelika, AL; his three devoted daughters, Jaida M. (Christian Patton) Bowser of Lanett, AL, Zy’keria N. Bowser, and Kamryn A. Bowser, both of Opelika, AL; his beloved son, Gavin Lucious-Bowser of Columbus, GA; four daughters by heart, Shanquarnilla (Brent) Avery-Wilson, Zion Fears, Ariyanna Grady, and Heaven Grady; and two sons by heart, Jatavious “Malike” Jones and Christopher Vann, all of Opelika, AL.

He is also survived by his only brother, Malcolm (Paris) Copeland of LaGrange, GA; and ten loving sisters: Alezandria (Eric, Sr.) Darden of Lanett, AL, Tamara (Randall) Brock, Tammi (Ernest) Caldwell, Konika (Joshua) Carter, Zilleary (Stanley) Dunn, and Kandricka Walker, all of Valley, AL; Regina (Lamar) Crowell, Shela Harvey, Vonetta (Toussant) Jackson, and Denise (Terry) Little, all of Atlanta, GA.

His legacy continues through four aunts: Bishop Bertha Hodge of Cusseta, AL; Geraldine (Carl) Lee of West Point, GA; Pastor Paula Little of Talladega, AL; and Elder Elnora (Kenneth) Copeland of Lanett, AL; three uncles: Sidney (Latosha) Brooks of Phenix City, AL; Willie “Sonny” (Mary) Hicks, Sr.; and Paul (Chandra) Hicks of Lanett, AL; as well as twenty-four nieces and nephews, eleven great-nieces and nephews, four brothers in spirit—Corey Brewer, Tommy Davidson, Lundae Floyd, and Damian Williams; his lifelong friend, Catobia Avery, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 14, 2025, at 1:00 PM EST at O.H. Ministries, 4128 Veteran’s Memorial Parkway, Lanett, AL 36863. Mr. Bowser will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, from 1:00 to 6:00 PM EST at Silmon Seroyer Funeral Home, 612 M.L. King Drive SE, Lafayette, AL 36862.

Burial will be held in Pine Hill Cemetery in Lanett, AL.
