Virgie Mae Horne, a beacon of love and generosity, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2025, at the age of 87, in Valley, Alabama. Born on June 8, 1938, in Dadeville, Alabama, her warmth and kindness touched all who knew her throughout her rich and fulfilling life.

Virgie was the loving matriarch of her family, a role she cherished above all else. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will forever be cherished by her devoted son, Clarence (Cooter) Horne; her caring brothers, Robert Earl (Julia) Foster Sr. and Hershal Lee (Doris) Foster; her adored three grandchildren; and her doting three great-grandchildren. Her spirit will live on through the stories and memories shared by her loving family and all those who were fortunate enough to know her.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clarence B. Horne; her precious children, Bernadine Horne and Nita Horne; her parents, Pearlie Mae Robinson and William Nolen Foster; her brothers, Quinton Foster, Franklin Foster, Fred Foster, Nolan Foster, and Joe Foster; and her sisters, Katherine Fincher and Elaine Strong. Her heart and home were always open, and though she has passed on, the light of her presence remains undimmed in the hearts of her family and friends.

A caring soul with an affinity for all creatures, Virgie had an extraordinary love for animals. She was affectionately known as “Meme” to all kids, a testament to her nurturing and loving nature. Her enthusiasm for capturing moments through photography, her joy in exploring new places through travel, and her quiet contentment while solving word search puzzles were among the simple pleasures that enriched her life. To all who knew her, Virgie was an embodiment of love, kindness, and generosity.
