February 1, 1944 ~ October 24, 2026 (age 82)

Judith Sara P. Buda was born on February 1, 1944, in San Luis Obispo, California, to Dr. Marcus Parvey and Christian Parvey. She was their only child.

Judith passed away peacefully surrounded by family on October 24, 2026. She is survived by her beloved husband of 59 years, Frank A. Buda, and her two sons, Marcus F. Buda and Kristopher L. Buda.

Judith graduated from the University of Georgia in 1966 with a bachelor’s degree in education. That same year, she began her teaching career in Montgomery, Alabama.

On December 22, 1967, Judith married her high-school sweetheart, Frank A. Buda. In 1972, they moved to Opelika, Alabama, where she continued her career as an elementary school teacher.

Teaching was Judith’s lifelong passion. She devoted 38.5 years to teaching in Opelika before retiring from her full-time teaching career in 2004. Her love of education and dedication to her students continued beyond retirement, as she went on to serve as a substitute teacher for another 17 years.

Outside the classroom, Judith was an active member of the Twentieth Century Study Club and the Garden Lovers’ Garden Club. She held several officer positions in both organizations and graciously hosted club meetings in her home, sharing her time and hospitality with fellow members.

Judith was also a devoted member of First Presbyterian Church of Opelika, where she taught Sunday school to young children for many years.

In keeping with one of Judith’s final wishes, the family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her memory to the Lee County Humane Society in Alabama or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
