Harry (Bubba) Edward Newman, 74, of Lafayette, Alabama, was called home by our Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 20. 2026 after a brief illness.
Harry, or Bubba as he was known to his family, spent most of his life in Douglasville, Georgia, graduating from Douglas County High School in 1970.
He later served with distinction in the United States Army National Guard.
Harry said that his greatest achievement was the adoption of his son, Justin. He devoted the following years to teaching Justin about the outdoors, life, and how to be a good man and Christian.
An outdoorsman for his entire life, he moved to Lafayette, Alabama and worked tirelessly improving the land with food plots, roads, and deer stands around every corner. His brothers and nephews were always welcome here, and Bubba always wanted the “kids” to enjoy it. Harry was a humble man with a passion for life, the outdoors, his faith, and SEC football. He allowed faith to guide his actions and his convictions. Because of this and who he was, he was loved by everyone he came across and will be sorely missed. Call him Harry, Bubba, Uncle Bubba, or whatever you like, but mostly just call him loved.
Harry leaves behind his son, Justin, his loving siblings, Larraine Bryant, Faye Buchanan, Mike (Judy) Newman, and Jim Newman, as well as 47 nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews, as well as countless friends.
Harry was the oldest son of Will David (Jack) Newman and Juanita Newman and the brother of Joyce Swanner, uncle to Cassandra (Cassie) Thompson Smith and Mitchell Thompson
