On Aug. 29, 2026, the Auburn Police Department arrested Hagan Phillips Lewis, 20, of Auburn, Alabama on the charges of assault second degree and harassment.
The arrest stems from an incident that occurred in the 200 block of West Magnolia Avenue. In the early hours of Aug. 29, 2026, Auburn Police officers responded to an assault at the rear of a local business. Upon arrival, officers observed a male victim lying unconscious on the ground. Witnesses advised officers that an unknown male had assaulted the male victim in an unprovoked attack then proceeded to shove a female victim before fleeing the scene. EMS responded to the scene and took the victim to a regional hospital where he remains in critical but stable condition.
After further investigation, Lewis was identified as the suspect. Warrants were obtained, and Lewis was taken into custody in the 1100 Block of Stonegate Drive. He was transported to the Auburn Police Department for questioning and later to the Lee County Jail where he is being held on a $26,000 bond.
All defendants are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
