LaFayette- During the Chambers County Commission meeting on Monday, County Attorney Skip McCoy read a proclamation officially recognizing Kathy Hornsby as the countywide Director of Chambers County 911 and Emergency Management (EMA).
“Whereas the members of the 911 Board include representatives from the Chambers County Commission, the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office, the Chambers County Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association, the City of Valley, the City of Lafayette, the City of Lanett, and Ambulance Services of Chambers County.
And whereas the Chambers County Commission and the Chambers County 911 Board have a longstanding agreement for the 911 Board to oversee the day-to-day operations of the Chambers County Emergency Management Agency.
And whereas the former 911 and EMA director, Jessica Yeager, retired from her position on March 1, 2026.
And whereas the 911 Board has appointed Kathy A. Hornsby as the new 911 Director, effective May 14, 2026,” McCoy read.
Following the proclamation, the Chambers County Commissioners and attendees erupted into applause.
“We are incredibly proud of Kathy and look forward to seeing the leadership, vision, and dedication she will bring to this important role. Having served as Deputy Director for many years, Kathy brings a wealth of knowledge, firsthand experience, and a deep understanding of the needs of our communities. Her commitment to public service and emergency preparedness has already made a lasting impact across Chambers County, and we are excited to see her continue that work as Director. Congratulations, Kathy, on this well-deserved accomplishment,” added the Chambers County Commission.
