VALLEY– On Saturday, just before 8 a.m. EST, residents in Valley began lining up at City Hall for the annual Valley Tree Board Arbor “Tree Giveaway.”

“This year, we’re giving away blueberry, cherry plum, and two different varieties of apple trees, and it’s absolutely free for Valley residents,” said Suzie Britt.

This giveaway is exclusively for City of Valley residents, and the popular event is made possible by the City of Valley and the Valley Tree Board.

“It was a huge success today! Tim Campbell was one of the special drawing winners; he won the yellow native azalea. The winner of the mini magnolia was Deanne Simms,” Britt added.

Following the tree giveaways, the board and community members made their way to Veterans Memorial Park for a special tree presentation.

“We’re going over to Veterans Memorial Park across the street to replace the memorial tree that has died. We will be replacing it with a cherry tree,” Britt said, expressing her satisfaction with the event.
