VALLEY- On Monday, the Valley Council issuesd a proclamation for Human Traffic Month. Valley Councilman Randall Maddux presented the proclamation to Adrian Carpenter with the Circle of Care and Circle’s Renew Hope, a local orginization that focuses on educating and training communities on the dangers of human trafficking.

“Whereas human trafficking is a public health issue, a crime that harms the health and well-being of children, individuals, families, communities, often across generations, And whereas human trafficking can happen to anyone in every community, and it is connected to many other forms of violence and exploitation, and often share common risk factors such as lack of resources and unsafe environments.

Whereas a successful response to human trafficking requires a coordinated community-wide response that includes collaboration across sectors and with those who have experienced human trafficking to ensure that services and programs are effective and meet the needs of survivors, and whereas every individual, family, community, and organization can help raise awareness, prevent trafficking, and support survivors by learning how to take action.

And whereas Valley, Alabama, we’d like to designate as a trafficking-free zone show in our commitment to this action, awareness, and partnerships
will comprehensively address the issues of human trafficking.

And now, therefore, I Leonard Riley, Mayor of the City Valley,
will hereby proclaim the month of January 2026, as human trafficking prevention and reaffirm my commitment to human trafficking awareness,
training, education activities, and strengthening resources”, read Maddux on behalf of the council.

An appreciative Carpenter, proudly acceped the proclamation.

“On behalf of the Alabama Attorney General’s anti-human trafficking law,
the Governor’s State Task Force, and the Circle of Care, thank you for your support.

“We’ve got a long partnership with the city of the Valley, and we all appreciate what you’re doing tonight”, added Carpenter.

The City of Valley joins Lanett and Opelika in cities in East Alabama that have observed Human Traffic Month.
