Sam Wood was on a mission on Tuesday, leading Springwood to a decisive 17-0 victory over The Rock Academy with three hits and four runs scored.
Overall, Springwood scored 10 runs in the second inning, dominating Rock Academy throughout the game. Tucker Sides, Russell Lauderdale, and Wes Carden also had outstanding performances. Additionally, Bentley Hussey and Colton Jones contributed with multi-hit games as Springwood continued to build its lead.
On the mound, Carden was exceptional, pitching a perfect game over two and two-thirds innings, striking out five batters and walking one. AJ Carter closed out the game with a scoreless inning in relief for Springwood.
“Tonight, we played hard, and that’s all you can ask for. Even though the score got out of hand, we played with determination and never quit. I thought our pitching was really strong,” said Springwood Head Baseball Coach Allen Watkins.
Springwood will look to extend its winning streak against Cornerstone Christian on Thursday.
