Opelika, AL – Southern Union State Community College is excited to announce the upcoming Real Estate Pre-License and Post-License courses, designed to provide aspiring and newly licensed real estate professionals with the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in Alabama’s dynamic real estate market.
Real Estate Pre-License Course
The Alabama Real Estate Pre-License Course is a comprehensive 60-hour program designed to equip aspiring real estate professionals with the foundational knowledge and skills necessary to excel in the Alabama real estate market and successfully pass the state licensing exam. The curriculum encompasses key topics such as agency relationships and contracts, real property ownership and interests, real estate finance, property descriptions, valuation, conveyance, marketing regulations, property management, and essential real estate calculations. By delving into these areas, students gain a thorough understanding of the legal, financial, and practical aspects of real estate transactions. This course not only prepares participants for the Alabama Real Estate Licensing Exam but also provides practical insights and skills applicable to a successful career in real estate.
The course meets on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. CST and runs from January 26, 2026, through April 8, 2026. Classes will be held at the Opelika Campus – Business Technology Center, Room 309. The course has a capacity of 30 seats, and the registration deadline is Friday, January 26, 2026. The cost of the course is $728.
Real Estate Post-License Course
The Alabama Real Estate Post-License Course is a 30-hour program designed for newly licensed salespersons to transition from a temporary to a permanent license within the first 6 to 12 months of licensure. This course delves into the practical aspects of operating a real estate business, offering insights into effective business planning, client management, and transaction coordination. Participants will explore the intricacies of the real estate process, including property listing, marketing strategies, negotiation techniques, and closing procedures. Additionally, the course emphasizes risk management by identifying common pitfalls and liabilities specific to Alabama real estate practice, equipping agents with strategies to navigate legal and ethical challenges.
The course meets on Tuesdays from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. CST and runs from January 27, 2026, through April 7, 2026. Classes will be held at the Opelika Campus – Business Technology Center, Room 309. The course has a capacity of 30 seats, and the registration deadline is Monday, January 27, 2026. The cost of the course is $364.
Registration is now open for both courses. Registration for the Pre-License course with be open till January 26th and the Post-License course registration will be open till January 27th.
