June 19, 1953 ~ May 3, 2025 (age 71)

Sharon Renee Wyatt, a beacon of loving kindness and generosity, passed away peacefully at the age of 71 in Atlanta, GA, on May 3, 2025. Known affectionately as Sharon by all, her life was a testament to the love and care she bestowed upon her family and the community that cherished her.

Born on June 19, 1953, Sharon grew into a woman whose heart knew no bounds. Her unwavering generosity touched everyone she met, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of many. Sharon’s warmth and joy will be fondly remembered and sorely missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Sharon was preceded in death by her beloved parents, James Leatherwood and Dorothy Humphrey (Basil), her first husband, Anthony Shelton Sr., her second husband, Denton Wyatt, her brothers, Bud Humphrey and William Leatherwood, her stepson, Richard Wyatt, and her granddaughters, Amelia Wyatt and Katlin Wyatt. Her legacy, however, continues with her cherished family members.

She is survived by her stepmother, Nita Leatherwood; dear sister, Denise Edgemond (Ken); sister-in-law, Diane Leatherwood; her devoted children: Anthony Shelton (Mary Jo), James Wyatt (Mindy), and Suzanna Gunter (Charles); and her adoring grandchildren: Lauren Rains (Christopher), Jacob Shelton (Jill), Kayla Shelton, Emma Wyatt, Sarah Wyatt, and Misty Wyatt. Sharon’s presence will also live on through her great-grandchildren: Ayden Lindsey, Jackson Lindsey, and Grant Lindsey, as well as through a multitude of other great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Each family member reflects a piece of her spirit and continues her legacy of love and grace. With each memory shared and each story retold,

Sharon’s spirit will remain an integral part of our lives. While we mourn her loss, we also celebrate the extraordinary life of a woman who was truly the epitome of love and kindness. Sharon Renee Wyatt’s light will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those she loved forever.

A graveside service will be held at Rosemere Cemetery in Opelika, Alabama, on Friday, May 9, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. (EST)

Visitation will take place at Johnson Brown – Service Funeral Home in Valley, Thursday, 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. (EST), where family, friends, and others who knew Sharon are invited to gather and pay their respects. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
