It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of the matriarch of our family, Sadie Thomas, who went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 4, 2026. Sadie fought a courageous, years-long battle with cancer since 2018.
Born in Germany on September 24, 1955, Sadie was adopted in 1957 by an American military family, Stella and Frank Reese, while they were stationed at Ft. Benning. She grew up in Columbus, Georgia, and was known to all as an instant friend and the sweetest soul.
Sadie’s “love language” was cooking and feeding those around her; she ensured no one ever went hungry. She was happiest sitting by the water fishing and grilling with her friends and family. We will deeply miss her fiery spirit and her constant need to be on the move.
Sadie was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bobby” Thomas of Beulah, AL, and Daughter, Mandy Leigh Downs of Phenix City, AL. She is survived by her daughter, Jamie Eastridge, and son-in-law, Jason Eastridge; her daughter, Stacey Johnson; her grandchildren, Teia Reaves, Will McConnell, Sophia Johnson, and JL Johnson; and her great-grandchild, Aaron Colley.
