Richard Holland Paschal, age 88, of Valley, AL, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 12, 2026. He was a devout Christian, a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He lived a life marked by loyalty, hard work, and unwavering dedication to those he loved. Holland loved spending time outside in his garden, in his barn woodworking, sharing the gospel, and long philosophical conversations.

Holland was blessed with 69 years of marriage to his beloved wife, Rosa Faye (Wood), who remained his constant companion and steadfast partner throughout every season of life. Together, they built a strong and enduring legacy of love, faith, and family.

He was the proud father of four children, each of whom carries a part of his wisdom, humor, and strength. He led by example, and approached fatherhood with patience and purpose, offering guidance when needed and unconditional support in all circumstances.

Holland will be remembered for his gentle spirit, steady presence, and the kindness he extended to everyone he met. Whether through a friendly conversation, a helping hand, or quiet encouragement, he had a special way of making others feel seen and valued.

 Holland is survived by his wife, Rosa Faye Paschal, his children, Richie Paschal (Sharon), Victor Paschal (Robin), Karen Henson Spears (Bud), and Brian Paschal; brother Donald Leon Paschal (Dorothy); sister-n-law Lorene Sims Paschal; brothers-n-law Johnny Wood (Rita), Harold Wood (Cynthia); grandchildren Jeremy Paschal, Stephanie Paschal Piper (Brian), Daina Hill Collins (Jeremy), Richard Hill, Rick Paschal (Courtney), Brad Paschal (Jenny), Britney Henson Perez (Jayson), Krista Henson Whiteley (Tyler), and Garrett Paschal. He is also survived by 19 great grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, extended family members, and friends who will forever cherish his memory. His influence will continue to live on in the lives he touched and the stories shared by those who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Grady B. Paschal and R. Katie (Smith) Paschal; brother Wallace J. Paschal; sister & brother-n-law Ruby Paschal Ivey & Theory Ivey; mother-n-law Florrie L. Wood; brother-n-law Lewis Wood; son-n-law David J. Henson; and granddaughter Amy Hill Ragland Gregory.

Holland’s life was a testament to Christianity, devotion, love, and simple goodness. His presence will be deeply missed, and his memory forever treasured.

Funeral services for Holland will be held on Friday, January 16th, 2025, at 2:30 PM (EST) at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley. Interment will follow in Johnson Memorial Gardens. Mr. Donald Leon Paschal and Brother John Gates will officiate. Holland’s family will receive friends Friday afternoon at the funeral home from 1:30 PM (EST) until the service hour.
