Chambers Academy continued its dominance on Wednesday with a decisive 12-0 victory over Springwood. The Rebels have now scored a total of 24 runs in their last two games against the Wildcats.
The Chambers Academy Varsity Rebels took the lead in the top of the second inning. Tucker Thrower started the rally with a single that brought in two runs. Drew Sheppard followed with another single, scoring one run. Landon Hand grounded out, adding another run to the score. Bryce Modling then singled, scoring one run, and Aiden Yerta completed the inning with a single that also brought in one run.
“I think the guys are playing really well right now,” said Rebels Head Baseball Coach Dillon NesSmith. “They’re swinging the bats extremely well, especially for this point in the season, which is exactly what we want to see.”
On the mound, Modling was in control from the start, allowing only four hits and no runs over four innings. He struck out four batters and walked none.
The Chambers Academy Varsity Rebels recorded nine hits during the game, with Andrews leading the team with three runs batted in from the number eight spot in the lineup. Andrews went 1-for-2 at the plate and also stole three bases. Thrower, batting in the number seven position, contributed two hits in three at-bats. As a team, the Rebels excelled on the base paths, stealing six bases in total, and they turned one double play.
“These games are incredibly important to us as coaches, and we try to ensure that our players understand that importance too,” added NesSmith.
On the other side, Springwood’s Colton Jones, Russell Lauderdale, Tucker Sides, and Adam Baltes each contributed one hit for the Wildcats in the game.
