According to the Chambers County EMA, we can expect prolonged cold weather this week ahead of the winter potential on Friday. Wind chills may remain below freezing each day even as air temperatures reach the low 40s.  A forecast for wind chills is also attached.

Aa of now, according to the attached map, we are not in the winter weather for snow or mixed precip except for a small area in the extreme north and northwest of the county, however, Thursday night into Friday morning we may have some rain which would lead to icy patches on bridges, overpasses, and less traveled roads.

Overview:  Cold weather will be in place for much of this week. A low pressure system will move along the Gulf Coast Thursday night through Friday leading to the potential for rain and a winter mix across most of Central Alabama.

Specific accumulations and areas impacted remain uncertain at this time as a 2 – 3 degree temperature difference in this situation will lead to significant changes in the forecast.
