Patricia Cummings Long of Opelika, Alabama, was born on October 8, 1947, in Opelika, Alabama to the late Willie Irvin Cummings, Sr. and Dorothy Elaine Cummings, and was called home by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at the Bethany House on Saturday, February 28, 2026. She was 78 years old.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Irvin Cummings, Sr., and Dorothy Elaine Cummings; her son, Johnny Frank Long, Jr.; sister-in-law, Vi Cummings; brother-in-law Richard Scott; and nephew Joey Cummings.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Johnny Frank Long, Sr.; two daughters, Hope Hopper (Philip) and Holly Thornton (Woody); sister, Jane Long (Gerald); brother, Irvin Cummings; brother-in-law, Cecil Long (Carol); brother-in-law, Sidney Long (Carolyn); sister-in-law, Becky Scott; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members.
Visitation will be held on the West Campus of Providence Baptist Church on March 4, 2026, from 10:00AM to 11:00AM with a Celebration of Life to follow at 11:00AM with Dr. Rusty J. Sowell officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Providence Baptist Church, 2807 Lee Road 166, Opelika, AL 36804 and to CAST Ministries, 1113 Martin Dam Road, Tallassee, Alabama 36078.
