During Monday’s City Council meeting, the council honored the legacy of Lt. John T. Pruitt, Sr., by dedicating the 6th Street Memorial Bridge.
“We are proud of the people and partnerships that make Opelika strong,” said Opelika Mayor Eddie Smith.
The event provided an opportunity to showcase how Opelika continues to lead through service and community involvement. That night, the city celebrated Alpha Kappa Alpha’s donation of over 8,500 hygiene products as part of their Period Poverty Project.
Additionally, the council recognized the Opelika City Schools Teachers of the Year.
