On Tuesday, Voters in portions of Lee and Chambers Counties went to the polls for the Special General Election in Alabama House District 38, and with 100% of precincts reporting, the unofficial results are as follows:

Kristin Nelson (Republican): 2,958 votes, 83.65%

Hazel Floyd (Democrat): 575 votes, 16.26%

“I know the session is already underway, but I have made sure that I was there when the session began so that I wasn’t just lost coming into it. So tomorrow I will hit the ground running, attending some committee meetings. I realize there are already tons of bills that are pre-filed, whether or not I will actually get a bill on the floor for this, I’m not really sure.

I’ve already been learning the process, and I am just looking forward to soaking it in and making sure that I’m being thorough and looking over the bills to know what I’m voting on and to make sure that we are voting on great bills, not good for the people of Alabama, and that we are affecting every corner. Making sure that the bills and the legislation that takes place in Montgomery is great for House District 38″, said Nelson.

The Honorable Judge Terrence A. Brown swore Nelson in as she was surrounded by her family.

“I want to congratulate Kristin Nelson on a well-earned victory in House District 38,” Burniston said. “Kristin has proven herself to be a tireless advocate for conservative values and effective leadership, and voters across Lee and Chambers Counties clearly recognized that. Kristin has done an outstanding job serving as our Chambers County Republican Chairman, consistently working to reach voters throughout the county and strengthen our party at the grassroots level. We are proud to see Republicans hold this seat and confident that Kristin will serve the people of House District 38 with integrity and dedication”, said Alabama Republican Party Director of Legislative Affairs & Communications Jeannie Burniston.
