Melanie Holley Poe, 83, of Lanett, Alabama, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2025, surrounded by her family.

Born to James A. Holley and Frances L. Holley, Melanie grew up in a home filled with faith, strength, and compassion—values she carried with her throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, James “Jimmy” Poe, and her brother, Jimmy Holley.

Melanie proudly graduated from Lanett High School in 1961, a class she cherished deeply. She loved her classmates, found happiness in every moment spent with them, and enjoyed lifelong friendships.

Melanie dedicated her career to serving her community, working with Interstate Valley Telephone Company, the City of Lanett, and the Lanett Housing Authority. Regardless of her role, she was recognized for her dependability, strong work ethic, and genuine kindness toward the people she served.

A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Melanie’s greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her daughters, Hollye Beck (Roddie) and Karol Jerrell (Nathan); her grandchildren, Jenna Marshall (Joseph), Jayme Jerrell, and Payton Beck; and her great-grandchildren, Tatum Marshall, Forrest Marshall, Slade Keith, and Hagen Moncus. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Kathy Holley, her niece, Katie Holley Owens, as well as her nephews, Steve Holley and Will Holley, and several cousins.

Melanie faithfully attended First Baptist Church of Lanett. She spent many cherished years serving in the nursery where she nurtured countless children with gentleness and joy. Her life was defined by her deep love for people and unwavering strength.

Flowers are welcome, or memorial donations may be made to Chattahoochee Hospice, whose care and compassion were deeply appreciated by the family.
