LCSO Disover Human Remains in Salem

On February 10th 2025, at approximately 3:00 pm Central Standard Time, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a concerned citizen regarding human remains being located in the Salem community.  Lee County deputies and investigators responded to the 5000 block of Lee Rd. 391 in Salem where human remains were located approximately 30 feet off of the roadway. Investigators processed the scene and notified the Lee County Coroner. Because of the decomposition of the remains, investigators were not able to confirm if there was any foul play involved.

At this time, we are not confirming whether we believe the body was male or female due to an ongoing investigation. The remains have been sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Science for an autopsy. More information will be released pending results.
