On Friday, the Lanett Boys’ basketball team found itself in a hole in the AHSAA 2A Area Tournament Semi-Finals against Reeltown from Richard Carter Court. It was gut-check time for the Panthers, who were down 22-12 at the half and seemed to have a difficult time defending Reeltowns perimeter shooting.
In the second half, Lanett boys’ basketball coach Trentavious McCants came out with a pressing defense that would collapse Reeltown’s shots and, thanks to a zone defense, led to transition Lanett baskets. Those adjustments carried Lanett to a 41-29 win and a spot in the Area Tournament Finals.

Lanett was also clutch from the free throw line going 11-15, which kept Reeltowns’s offense off balance.
With the win, Lanett will now face their Rival LaFayette on Monday with an Area Championship on the line.
