On Monday, the Lanett Council announced that they are upgrading new signals on   South 10th and First Streets. Regarding the signal on First Street, the city will partner with the Alabama Department of Transportation. As for the intersection on Highway 29 and South 10th Street, (ALDOT) will not fund that project due to a lack of traffic.

Mayor Jamie Heard addressed the council on the matter and Code Enforcement Officer Johnny Wood explained it in further detail.

Lanett’s cost for the First Street Traffic Signal is $58,300 with (ALDOT) paying for the bulk of the project. As for the Traffic Signal at the intersection of 29 and South 10th Street, if the city wanted to move foward they would pay an estimated t $250,000.
