On Monday, the LaFayette Boys thanks to an opportunistic defense and clutch shooting down the stretch en route to a 57-49 win over host Lanett and an Area Championship.

A back-and-forth first half had LaFayette up 22-19, and with an Area Championship on the line, it was anyone’s game.

The Dawgs would seize control in the second half, going up 39-30 as the game moved to the pivotal 4th Quarter. The Dawgs continued that momentum down the stretch with big defensive stops and clutch shooting for a 57-49 win and an Area Championship. Kamare Harrington led a balanced offensive attack with 15 points.

As for Lanett, the Panthers shot a dissappointing 21 of 41 from the free throw line, which proved to be a big factor especially in the second half.

The LaFayette Boys will host the first round on Saturday of the Sub Regionals.
