VALLEY – On Saturday evening, the community gathered at the Valley Community Center for the annual ‘Grillin’ For Girls’ fundraiser in support of the Tallapoosa County Girls Youth Ranch. The event kicked off with a delicious steak dinner provided by the Chambers County Sheriff’s Department, along with Kim’s Butcher Block and Terry’s Cafe. This was followed by a silent auction and a live auction, led by Chambers County’s most famous and beloved cowboy, Eddie Adams.
“This is one of the greatest events we do—it brings everyone together in the community. Plus, you can’t beat my steaks with all the trimmings. The most important thing is that this is all for the girls. Everything we do for these events is to raise money for them. This year, we raised over $11,000 from our Radiothon, and we are hoping to approach that amount with the Grilling for Girls dinner tonight,” said Chambers County Sheriff Jeff Nelson.
An estimated $27,500 was raised at the event, surpassing last year’s total, thanks to the generosity of the communities in East Alabama and West Georgia.
“We couldn’t do it without the sheriffs, particularly the Chambers County Sheriff’s Department, which helps us in many ways. Not only do they support this event, but they also assist with our Christmas Radiothon,” said Ranch Director Eric Strong.
The funds generated from the Radiothon help purchase Christmas gifts for the girls as well as support summer vacations.
“The Chambers County Sheriff’s Department takes care of us in many different ways. It’s not just about financial support; it’s also about fundraisers like this one and their presence at our events. The Chambers County community really steps up where it counts, and we take pride in partnering with them,” Strong added.
“The goal is to provide everything needed to help raise great individuals at that girls’ ranch,” Nelson stated.
That’s the ‘Grillin’ For Girls’ Benefit for the Tallapoosa County Girls Youth Ranch—a tradition of commitment to supporting our community.
