OPELIKA, AL, [April 9, 2025] – The Opelika Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce an expanded and reimagined 2026 season of Food Truck Friday, featuring themed event nights, a new Summer Movie Series in partnership with the Opelika Public Library, and enhanced live music experiences.

These new additions are part of a strategic effort to make Food Truck Friday bigger and better, encouraging attendees to not only come downtown, but to stay longer, explore more, and continue supporting our food trucks, small businesses, and downtown community.

Food Truck Friday takes place from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM along N. Railroad Avenue and 1st Avenue, featuring more than 20 food trucks and vendors, live entertainment, and local businesses.

In partnership with the Opelika Public Library, select dates will feature a movie showing, giving families and friends another reason to gather downtown. Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets to enjoy the movie, which will begin at 7:00 PM.

Several nights will also feature larger live bands and themed experiences.

2026 Food Truck Friday Themes & Featured Events:

April 17 – Opelika in Bloom featuring Truck Dog

Enjoy an evening filled with seasonal flavors and live music from the band Truck Dog. Guests can welcome the new season by making their own bouquets at an onsite flower bar.

May 15 – Summer Movie Series: Back to the Future

After grabbing dinner from your favorite food trucks, settle in with blankets and chairs for an evening showing of Back to the Future.

June 5 – Summer Movie Series: The Sandlot

Step into summer with live music and a 7pm showing of The Sandlot.

June 9 – Juneteenth Celebration & World Cup Viewing Party

Celebrate Juneteenth at Courthouse Square and then head to Railroad Ave for a live viewing of the World Cup match between Haiti and Brazil.

July 17 – Summer Movie Series: National Treasure

Get ready for a night of adventure and discovery with an evening showing of National Treasure.

August 7 – Summer Movie Series: Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark

Experience the thrill of Indiana Jones on the big screen while enjoying great food and live music.

August 21 – Back to School Bash & OHS Football Game Screening

Enjoy food, music, and school spirit with a live screening of the Opelika High School vs. Benjamin Russell football game. Wear your black and red and come ready to cheer on Opelika.

September 18 – Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration

Immerse yourself in a vibrant cultural celebration with live music and a spotlight on Hispanic-owned vendors. Guests can enjoy a variety of authentic flavors and festive décor, that celebrates culture and community.

October 2 – PINK OUT for Breast Cancer Awareness

Join the community in wearing pink and showing support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

October 16 – Hocus Pocus Movie Night and Halloween Fun

Downtown Opelika transforms into a spooky destination filled with costumes, trick-or-treating, and family-friendly fun. Enjoy a screening of Hocus Pocus and come dressed in your best costumes.

November 20 – Season Finale: “Thankful for a Great Year of Food Truck Fridays”

Close out the season with an evening centered around gratitude for our community. Enjoy comfort foods and live music as we celebrate another successful year together.

Food Truck Friday continues to be a cornerstone event for downtown Opelika, bringing thousands of residents and visitors together each month and driving meaningful economic impact for small businesses.
