January 27, 1948 ~ March 28, 2025 (age 77)

It is with deep sorrow and heartfelt love that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Faye Blanton McLeroy (formerly Ogle). Mrs. Faye McLeroy of Valley, Alabama, passed away peacefully at her home on March 28, 2025, at the age of 77, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

She leaves behind cherished memories with her family: her brothers Julian (Donna) Myers and F.M. (Debbie) Myers, her children Chris Ogle, Kathy Hornsby, and Angelia Weldon, and her grandchildren Lindsey (Logan) Clifton, Hunter Hornsby, River and Ashton Weldon, Christin (Steven) Dunn, and Stephen Ogle. She also leaves behind a host of sister and brother-in-laws, nieces, nephews, and great grandchildren, as well as her Stepbrother Butch (Susan) Fowler, her step sister Sueann Spivey, all of whom she deeply loved.

Faye was preceded in death by beloved husband Ernest A. McLeroy, her parents Magdalean Myers, Alton Blanton, and Mildred B. Fowler, her brothers Harold, Jerome, and Ray Myers; her sisters Reba and Diane Carter, her step brother Bob Fowler, her step sister MaryJane Huntsinger.

Born on January 27, 1948, in Langdale, Alabama, Faye grew up in the Blanton community, now known as Beulah, AL. After the untimely loss of her father, she moved to Lafayette, Alabama, where she was lovingly raised by her adoptive mother, Mildred Blanton (Fowler).

After spending most of her time at Beulah School, she graduated from Valley High School. Faye went to Southern Union where she earned a certificate as a secretarial administrator. During this time, she began her career at West Point Pepperell / West Point Stevens) where she proudly dedicated more than 40 years of her life working in various roles and departments throughout her tenure.

A devoted Christian, Faye was a member of New Unity Church, where she and her late husband, Ernest McLeroy, faithfully worshipped. Her love for the Lord was evident in all she did and everyone she encountered. She was known for her generous spirit and her homemade biscuits and tomato gravy, which brought warmth and comfort to many Sunday morning services as it did for her family at home.

Faye found beauty in nature and adored the simple joys of life. Birds, squirrels, flowers, butterflies, and her cherished pets brought her happiness. She had a deep love for music, singing along to everything from church hymns to classic rock, disco, and country from the 50s and 60s.

Her heart was as gentle as her spirit. She was a kind and compassionate soul, always willing to help others, giving generously from what little she had, and extending her love to people and animals alike.

Though her battle with Alzheimer’s was long and difficult, we find solace in knowing that her mind is restored and she now rejoicing in the presence of our Savior.

We extend our gratitude to Chattahoochee Hospice and our Caregivers for providing guidance, comfort and light during the darkest times of this journey.

It has truly been a “long goodbye,” but today we do not say farewell—we say, “we’ll see you later, Mama.”
