Last Tuesday, the family of Allen Hollaway spoke at the West Point Council Worksession regarding their frustration and displeasure with the investigation that claimed the life of their loved one who was murdered in West Point on November 18, 2022. The 58-year-old Holloway was shot in an apparent drive-by shooting at the intersection of East 12th Street and MLK in West Point. He was later pronounced deceased by the Troup County Coroner’s Office.
The GBI was called in to assist in the investigation, yet resulted in no suspects. Only to determine that it was a drive-by shooting. The vehicle description is believed to be a gray 4-door Honda Accord between the 2007 and 2012 models.
“We were told that the family could reach out to all the members of the city regarding questions about the investigation through the city’s website. We have done that and didn’t get a response. Furthermore, no one from the West Point Police Police Department has even called about the concern of loss. Our family has sent emails to the mayor, acting chief of police, and the detective investigatating the case. investigating I did not hear from anyone, We did receive a phone call, but we are still not satisfied. We are here today because we feel like the city of West Point has let us down, and we feel neglected”, said one family member.
The mood of the family was that of disappointment and frustration that their loved one was taken and that one seemed to care.
“I’m angry because it’s like it’s being swept under the rug and we’re not gonna let that happen. We’re gonna keep going to keep going because we want justice. He was a loyal person, he loved the city of West Point, and he loved living here. Anytime that we tried to get him to leave, he wouldn’t. We want justice for him because he deserves it. We are not gonna be quiet, we are not going to be calm, we want justice for Allen Hollaway”, added another family member.
