June 2, 1953 ~ March 10, 2026 (age 72)

Eva Yvonne Hawkins, 72 of Valley, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at Wellstar Medical Center in Lagrange, Georgia, surrounded by her loved ones.

Eva loved being with her family. One of her favorite things to do was to go antique shopping. She loved to go to the lake with her family and just be with everyone. She loved collecting old coins and bills, she also loved going to Biloxi with her sisters and being with them.

Eva was also very talented with her hands. Cooking was her specialty. At any family event or holiday she was always the one in the kitchen doing all the cooking, and don’t you dare walk in the kitchen with your hair down or your shirt off, she would run you out the kitchen saying “you know better, don’t make me whoop you”.

Everything that Eva done was with love. She always put others before herself. She always made sure to check on everyone no matter what.

She was preceded in death by her parents Robert Troy Meigs and Doris Eva Senn, her sisters Pat Creel and Denise (David) Clark, her brother Paul Meigs, her brother in laws Leonard Curry and Gene Gough, her granddaughter Laura Meigs, and her great grandson Baby Cooler, her nephew Jerry Gough and her niece Tonya Clark.

Eva is survived by her children, Chris Meigs, Melissa (Derrick) Sellers and B.J. Kirk; her beloved grandchildren, Joshua (Tiffanie) Cooler, Christopher Meigs, Jena Meigs, Alyssa (Stephen) Mathis, Sarah (Andrew) Craig; she has 10 great grandchildren; her sisters Peggy Gough and Paula Curry; her sister in law Kathy Meigs and numerous nieces, nephew and cousins.

A memorial service will be held celebrating the life of Eva Hawkins on Saturday March 21st, 2026 at The New Unity Church at 12:00 p.m. EST. All family and friends will be welcomed.
