September 16, 1938 ~ December 29, 2025 (age 87)

Charles Edward (Eddie) Goggans was born September 16, 1938, in Langdale, Alabama and passed away December 29, 2025, in Valley, Alabama. He was the son of the late George Edward Goggans and Virginia Culpepper Goggans.

He was a 1956 graduate of Valley High School and attended the University of Transylvania in Lexington, KY and the University of Tampa. In his early career, he was part of several family-owned businesses including Fairfax Clothing Company, Fairfax Loan Company and later Valley Pawn Show. His love for movies began at an early age and he became owner and operator of The Fairfax Theatre and The Golden Rock Theatre. At the age of 55 he began a thirty-year career at Advance Auto Parts and his tenure lasted until his retirement at the age of 85. His work ethic was remarkable, and his determination was beyond description.

Eddie was a friend to many and a beloved son, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Kaye Stallings Goggans, children Virginia Ann (Brad) Reed, Betsy (Mike) Osburn, Bill Goggans, and Brett (Chelsea) Goggans. Grandchildren Kaydie (Ryan) Earnest and Kendall Andrews. Great grandchildren, Baylor and Anna Kate Earnest, and Loralai Goggans. He also leaves behind a special cousin, Beverly Arrington, and loyal friend and former co-worker Roger Elliott.

He was a history buff and loved everything about his beloved hometown of River View. He was a faithful and lifelong member of First Christian Church of River View where he served as deacon and proudly chaired the building and grounds committee.

Funeral Services were held Friday, January 2, 2026, at 11:00 AM (EST) at Johnson Brown Service Funeral Home, Valley AL. A visitation was held, Thursday January 1, 2026, at the funeral home from 5:00 to 7:00 PM (EST).
