February 16, 1953 ~ April 14, 2025 (age 72)

Cathy Weldon, a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, left this world on April 14th, 2025, and took with her a profound legacy of kindness, intelligence, and friendliness. Born on February 16th, 1953, in Valley, Alabama, Cathy’s warmth and compassion touched the lives of all who knew her.

Her life journey began in the same place it would end – her beloved hometown, Valley. Cathy’s love for her family was the cornerstone of her existence, and that love was radiated back multifold. Her son, Joe Ricky Weldon, and his wife, Casey, found in her not just a mother, but a confidante and guide. Her grandchildren, River Weldon, Ashton Weldon, Kaley Jones, and Baylee Jones, were the lights of her life. She embraced the joy of her granddog, Geronimo, with as much affection. Cathy’s brothers, Ronnie Taylor with his wife Deborah, and Renee Pike with his wife Annie, along with her numerous nieces and nephews, will remember her for her steadfast presence and enduring support.

Embarking on a path of service, Cathy became a respected registered nurse with Lanier Home Health, dedicating herself to the well-being of the community. She continued her compassionate work with Lanett City Schools post her retirement from home health, where she ended her professional career as a nurse, leaving behind a trail of grateful hearts.

Cathy’s zest for life shone through her passion for Alabama football, her adoration for Nick Saban, and her enjoyment of family travels. She lived her life to the fullest, always present for the milestones and the everyday moments alike.

She was greeted in the beyond by her adored parents, Hattie Mae Walden and D. J. Pike, who preceded her in death. Cathy’s life was a bright beacon of love and kindness, and her diverse interests, profound empathy, and enduring wisdom left an indelible mark on the world. She will be deeply missed, but the impact of her spirit will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A Celebration of Cathy’s Life will be held on Saturday, April 19th, 2025 at 2:00 PM (EDT) at Calvary Baptist Church in Lanett, Alabama. Pastor David Gwen will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, Cathy’s family asks that donations be made in her memory to the Opelika Animal Hospital, 1615 2nd AVE, Opelika, AL, 36801.
