October 29, 1939 ~ January 12, 2026 (age 86)
Bobby J McWhorter, a cherished husband, to Cynthia McWhorter, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on January 12, 2026, at the age of 86, in Opelika, Alabama. Born on October 29, 1939, in Randolph County, Bobby lived a life marked by deep faith, a love for his family, and a strong sense of community.
A dedicated father, he raised his children, Phillip McWhorter (Michele) and Toni Wunch (Bob), with firm principles and kind compassion. Though his heart grieved the loss of his infant daughter, Laverne McWhorter, brother, Jimmy McWhorter, and stepdaughter, Robin Fuller, Bobby remained an embodiment of perseverance and strength. His stepchild, Robert Abercrombie, also experienced the warmth of his nurturing spirit. His legacy continues in the lives of his grandchildren, Holli Lewis (Taron) and Lacy Miller (Chris), along with his step-grandchildren, Brett Fuller (Bonnie), Rebecca Fuller (Jimmy), and Kevin Abercrombie, all of whom will miss his guiding hand and loving embrace. His nine great-grandchildren will grow up hearing tales of their great-grandfather’s remarkable spirit and generosity.
Bobby was the owner and operator of McWhorter Heating and Air in Huguley. He also carried with him not just the honor of being a Freemason but the integrity and commitment that the tradition upholds. This reflected in every aspect of his life, notably in the way he engaged with those around him and led his family. As a Christian, his faith was not just a belief but a way of life.
Beyond his family and faith, Bobby was an individual of many talents. The time spent tinkering in his shop or nurturing his garden were among his favorite things.
In living by his values and spreading joy and wisdom, Bobby J McWhorter left an indelible mark on this world and set a course for others to follow long after his farewell. As we bid him goodbye, we celebrate a life abundantly lived and a soul eternally loved.
