On Friday, the AHSAA 2A Area Tournament kicked off from Lanett as the LaFayette boys basketball team cruised to a 56-26 win against Loachapoka as the Dawgs punched their ticket to the Championship Game on Monday.
The Dawgs brought a stifling defense that kept the Loachapoka off-rhythm for most of the night, especially in the second half as they surrendered only 9 points to the Indians offensively.
“I thought we trapped well tonight, which is what we have been focusing on in practice as well as the last two games of the regular season. We just want to be hitting on all cylinders for post season basketball”, said LaFayette Head Boys Basketball Coach Chase Lewis.
LaFayette had a balanced attack led by Jordan Johnson who scored 20 points and Kemare Harrington added 10 along with Cameron Thomas who chipped in 9.
LaFayette will now play Lanett for the Area Championship on Monday.
