VALLEY- No rain, no problem… On a cold and wet Saturday, the Chambers County Sheriff’s Department hosted the 5th annual Grillin’ For Girls benefit, a fundraiser for the Alabama Sheriff’s Girls Ranch where they sold over 420 plates to a packed crowd at the Valley Community Center.

After a delicious steak dinner, several big-name items for auctioned off were auctioned off as competitive bidding began. This year’s auctioneer was Eddie Adams who kept the crowd entertained while keeping the bidding competitive.

“This was the biggest one we have had. It was an amazing event and I can’t thank the community enough. The auction items that were given as well as purchased just showed the love that Chambers County and surrounding areas have for this organization and everything that it means to us. This is an example of the love that we have in this community and that we love strong”, said Public Relations and Community Affairs Officer Major T.J. Wood with the Chambers County Sheriff’s Department.

Chambers County Sheriff Jeff Nelson was thrilled with the turnout and beyond grateful for the support for the fundraiser for the girls.

“What else could you ask for? You do something like this and have the community come out and support this. It just speaks volumes about our community and the money that was raised is going to help so many people. It was a great night and I can’t wait for the next one” said Chambers County Sheriff Jeff Nelson.

Special guests, staff, and the girls at the Tallapoosa County Girls Ranch were the guest of honor for the event. Tallapoosa County Girls Ranch was very appreciative of the support the ranch receives from the community.
“We have just gotten bigger and better every year. This year we saw a bigger dine-in turnout than we have in previous years and that is so important because the more people we are able to share the mission of the ranch with is more people we can build a support network for our girls. That’s what it’s about. It’s not just about raising money, it’s also about raising awareness for what we are doing for kids in our community”, Tallapoosa County Girls Ranch Executive Director Candice Gulley.
