Mrs. Ellen Burdette Williams, age 78, of Lanett, Alabama, passed away on January 8, 2026, together with her beloved husband of 34 years, Walter Coleman Williams, at their residence. Mrs. Williams was born on October 3, 1947, to the late Edwin Otis Burdette, Sr. and Emma Jewell Rosamond Burdette of LaGrange.
Ellen is survived by her nephew, Thomas E. Burdette, Jr. of Columbus, Georgia, niece, Shannon Burdette Clark (Robbie) of LaGrange, Georgia, nephew, Lance Chrisler Burdette (Nicole) of Reeltown, Alabama, great nieces, Rory K. Webb (Hunter), Karsyn Burdette, Emma Burdette, Price Burdette, Ramsey E. Clark, Paisley Burdette and Ketch Burdette as well as a sister-in-law, Janet H. Burdette. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her niece, Crystal Melody Burdette, brother Thomas Ellis Burdette, Sr. and brother Ruben J. Burdette.
Ellen dedicated her life to her family and was the most giving and kind person to all she knew. She was a member of Langdale Methodist Church and retired from George H. Lanier Memorial Hospital after 47 years in the accounting department.
Funeral services for Ellen and her husband Coleman will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at 2:30 PM (EST) at the graveside in Fairfax Cemetery, Magnolia St, Valley, Alabama. Pastor Todd Owen will officiate. Ellen and Coleman’s family will receive friends in the cemetery following the service.
